The son of world-travelled wayfaring parents, Cédric da Silva grew up moving between Brazil, Canada, and the United States. He was first drawn to creative expression early in life while living in Brazil as he was exposed to local artists who created rosy yet truthful depictions of their hardships; before knowing that he wanted to be a photographer or filmmaker, Cédric was naturally inspired by the art around him to write poetry and create stories of his own. This passion for storytelling slowly evolved into a variety of artistic mediums and ultimately became a professional aspiration while attending community college where he was brought on to work as a video editor and art department coordinator within the award-winning documentary film production for and about Mount San Jacinto College. During this time, Cédric also had his work published within the Audeamus: National Multidisciplinary Honors Journal Vol.11, further solidifying his commitment to a career in the arts.
A move to University of California Santa Cruz then enriched Cédric’s passions and abilities as a filmmaker and led to contacts in the music and film worlds. Upon graduating, Cédric was invited by the Santa Cruz Film Festival to produce their yearly television promo. After seeing his work on TV, Gadgetbox Studios, a Santa Cruz production company and recording studio, approached Cédric to join their team as an editor, cinematographer, and eventually writer/director for music videos, product ads, live-streamed concerts, and corporate promos.
Cédric has been honored to work with top international brands and artists such as Cy Curnin of The Fixx, Dance of The Deer Foundation, NHS Inc, and Sling TV. Though his greatest passions are writing and directing, Cédric thoroughly enjoys working with people in different technical and creative capacities, as he is always looking to learn and grow in ways he may not have planned. Cédric is deeply passionate about the work that he does and has spent his entire adult life cultivating a diverse yet advanced skill set in film-making, photography, and marketing.
